2026 Improv Summer Camp

Signups Are Live!

Help your child build skills that go far beyond the stage!

Improv isn't just about being funny. It's one of the most effective tools for building confidence, communication, and creative thinking in young people. AND it happens to be a blast!

At Lex Comedy's Improv Summer Camp students spend five unforgettable days of fun learning the foundational skills of improvisational comedy in a supportive, low-pressure, high-energy environment. Led by professionally trained veteran teachers and performers, every activity is designed to challenge students just enough to help them grow. Along the way students learn the power of "having each other's backs". Total beginners are welcome in our safe and uplifting environment.

Why Improv?
Research consistently shows that improv comedy and theatre training delivers real, lasting benefits for children:

  • Confidence: Students learn to take up space, trust their instincts, and feel proud of their ideas

  • Communication:  Active listening and clear expression are at the heart of every improv exercise

  • Resilience:  Improv teaches teenagers to embrace mistakes, adapt quickly, and keep going

  • Collaboration:  Every scene is built together; there are no stars, only ensembles

  • Emotional intelligence: Students practice empathy by inhabiting characters and perspectives different from their own

  • Focus and presence: Improv demands full attention, sharpening the ability to be in the moment

These aren't just performance skills. They're life skills that students will carry into the classroom, onto the sports field, to the workforce, and into every social situation they encounter moving forward.

What to Expect

Over the course of the week, campers will explore improv games, character work, and collaborative scene-building in a structured and joyful setting. Classes are kept intentionally small at 12 students so every child receives meaningful instruction and plenty of time on their feet.

The week culminates in a one-hour live showcase where campers perform for family and friends, putting everything they've learned into action. It's the kind of moment kids talk about all summer!

What's included:

  • 5 days of expert-led improv instruction (3 hours/day)

  • 15 total hours of hands-on training

  • Small class size — maximum 12 campers

  • End-of-week live showcase performance

  • A safe, inclusive, encouraging environment

    About the Instructor:
This class is taught by veteran teacher Patricia Mullins, who has over 18 years of teaching experience. She is a longtime theater professional who also trained in sketch comedy and improv at the competitive Second City conservatory, UCB, Magnet Theatre, and Improv Cincinnati. She loves introducing students to the exciting world of improv where anything is possible!

From Patricia: "The most exciting moments for me are when you see students really expressing their unabashed support for one another. So often they get conditioned to believe that clapping loudly for each other isn't cool. Improv comedy and theater are natural pathways to becoming an empathetic person, of which the world is in great need."
